Bill and his crew were wonderful to work with. The process was smooth and easy. Bill returned my initial call quickly and we were able to set up a date for him to look at the project. Bill came out once to look at the work, then came out again for a follow up and explanation of the estimate. The paperwork was all sent by email and was done in a very timely manner. We even had the option to pay online, which was great for us. Once the project was booked, Bill and his crew came out to set up the lighting. Every member of the team was extremely professional and cleaned up all the supplies. We are thrilled with the final project, and we highly recommend working with Bill. He is extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with.

I was extremely pleased with the outdoor lighting which Bill and his staff installed at my home in Florida. Since Florida is not my permanent residence, I dealt with Bill only via phone and email. He was extremely professional and made suggestions to enhance the lighting at my home.

I hired Bill to replace incandescent lights with LED lights that could be anchored with concrete for the front entrance of our neighborhood. Bill helped identify the ideal lights. They are attractive, energy saving, timer controlled, provide the right amount of light and can be anchored into the ground in a robust way. Bill was prompt in providing a quote, taking care of the work, answering questions and providing assistance. He is professional, knowledgeable, prompt and a pleasure to work with. I am very satisfied with the work, and I highly recommend Bill and his company.

Bill and his team are great. We felt that he was competent and experienced in giving us good advice. The project turned out beautifully. We had done another lighting project with our landscapers previously, who charged us much more, had little advice to offer and said that they cannot drill into our retaining walls to install lights. Bill said that it was not a problem to install lights in retaining walls, did so without a problem and gave us a beautiful result.

Northern Outdoor Lighting really listened to what we were looking for in our outdoor space. The lighting that they recommended is perfect. Two years later we are still thrilled with it. The installers were so professional and made sure we understood how everything worked in the event that we wanted to change timers, etc.  They followed up with us a year later to see if we were still satisfied with the project. I wish all contractors interacted as professionally as this group. I cannot say enough positive things. The whole experience was easy, and we love our outdoor space.

Bill and his crew did a fantastic job on my lighting project. I hired Northern Outdoor Lighting to install some landscape lights (11 fixtures) for my front yard and it has made a world of difference to the look of our home at night. Bill is very easy to work with. When I got home, I couldn’t even tell that he and his crew were there. The types of fixtures that were used are all high quality and look great. On a whim, I reached out to Bill to design and install the lighting for my wedding last summer. I wanted temporary lights, and he was an expert in permanent. He was excited about the challenge and said that the materials were the same, just a slightly different strategy. I was 100% unprepared for how awesome, professional, cautious, thoughtful and reliable Bill would be about our project, which started as a temporary installation, as I said, and turned into permanent installations all over my parents farm because they loved the lighting so much.

Bill came up and did several site visits to our home in NH, he listened to my vision for how the lighting would flow at our outdoor wedding on our property, he made his own recommendations as well, which were creative and fun. He showed me sample fixtures and sent through a budget and got to work. For the installation, he came several days in advance of the wedding with a small crew to start putting the lights in place. He wanted to test everything before the day in case anything was wrong. Each day, the property came to life in a way that was unexpected. We’d never had outdoor lighting before and having it wash across the barn, the forest, the bread oven and the gardens was all incredible.

The event went off beautifully and Bill took all my crazy phone calls. After the main event, my parents decided to make a lot of the lighting permanent and they have enjoyed it ever since. Bill made sure all the wires and such were buried and the property was clean and safe, even when they were temporary, and he did a totally pro installation when they were made permanent. He has taken countless calls from my dad about replacing a bulb or adjusting a light. He is just the nicest person to deal with.

He never makes anyone feel uninformed, even though many are when it comes to outdoor lighting. I certainly was. He became like a member of our family for the weeks surrounding the biggest day of my life!

Northern Outdoor Lighting provided outdoor lighting for our garden in Cambridge, MA. I called all of their references before we hired them. All of the people I spoke with gave Bill Knowles glowing references. As much as I was skeptical, it was the best decision we made to hire Northern Outdoor Lighting! Bill and his team worked quickly and efficiently. They came back at least twice to tweak the color temperature of the lamps and to add some additional lights. Our garden was transformed!

Highly recommend Northern Outdoor Lighting. We moved into our house about a year ago and there was extensive outdoor lighting. We had no idea where most of the lights were located or the total number of lights throughout the property. Bill inventoried the lighting, then cleaned and repaired all the lights. Our yard has now been restored to its original lighting design. Bill and his partner were punctual, neat and great to work with.

Bill Knowles has done three landscape lighting proposals for me, two of which I had him install (15-25 fixtures each). Bill is very knowledgeable about landscape lighting products. He recommends fixtures that are durable and long lasting. He has the experience to know where best to position light fixtures and how to properly wire them. He is confident in his approach, while also easy-going about listening to the owner’s input. His proposals were clear and detailed with product cut sheets provided. He does not usually provide any drawings locating the lighting on a landscape plan, however, if there were a landscape architect involved, I assume they would provide that service. As an architectural designer myself, I was particularly interested in the aesthetics of the lighting, not just their function. Bill delivered two great-looking projects. As for the warranty, it is very generous. After installation Bill returned to adjust light levels with lower wattage bulbs, adjust the timers and replace any faulty bulbs at no charge.

It was fantastic. We’re extremely happy with the result.
